What Is Diastema?
28.02.2019

Gaps or diastema between teeth of the fact that it has much more disproportionately than it should be is the given name. It is usually caused by the fact that the teeth are genetically too small or the jaw is genetically too large. As well as natural causes such as accidents, injuries, tooth losses can also end with diastema. This condition, called spaced teeth among the public, may appear to be more of an aesthetic problem, but it also poses a functional problem. With the Bonding application, you can get a quick solution on the same day.

The biggest challenge that diastema presents to the patient is to have an aesthetically problematic appearance. However, in addition to this, open teeth in terms of health can lead to certain problems. Patients with a shortage of Diastema have a mouth structure that is more suitable for the formation of bacteria and plaque because there are gaps between the teeth that should not be. Also, due to the inability of the space between the teeth to protect the air and the insertion of the tongue into these spaces, speech disorders are common.

Diastema Treatment (Intermittent Tooth)

What Is DiastemaThe most important factor in determining the treatment to be used in the disease is the distance between the teeth. 3 different treatment methods are commonly applied considering the distance of the tooth opening.

Composite Veneer (composite Bonding): a simple method commonly used in mild cases where the distance between the teeth is close to a minimum and also in mild front teeth fractures. A composite material of paste consistency is used by a specialist dentist to cover and enlarge the teeth that make up the cavity. It is a practical method and is often solved in a single session. It is slightly more sensitive compared to other methods, it is necessary to protect teeth repaired with composite veneer.
Porcelain Lamina (Leaf porcelain): it is a method used in light-to-medium tooth opening and the treatment of moderate-to-moderate fractures. In this method, the tooth is not completely cut and only the appropriate amount is rasped. Then the laminates to be glued are molded and made to fit the tooth fully. In the final stage, the prepared laminates are attached to the tooth with strong chemical adhesives. It takes 2 to 3 times longer than the composite Veneer method but offers a more robust solution.
Orthodontic treatment and complete dental prosthesis: in the case of advanced dental opening and closing disorder are appropriate methods to be applied. Depending on the cause of the disorder, surgery related to the general structure of the jaw and mouth can be applied. Openings that are very difficult to treat with other methods or in cases that result in loss of a large portion of the intervals of the tooth, to create space for a solution can be presented as a full dental prosthesis. It is much more troublesome compared to the other two methods.
