Ortodontics

Orthodontics is one of the sub-branches of Dentistry, just like pedodontics or endodontics. The area in which it specializes in the structural position disorders observed in the arrangement of the teeth and also the deformations in the jaw structure that can be seen. In other words, orthodontics covers the detection of teeth and jaw with position impairment, preventing or stopping it in the early period, and improving it in the later period. It is often used as dental treatment in society.

If you ask what orthodontics means, the ancient Greek orthos (straight, correct) and odont (tooth) is a word of foreign origin that occurred with the combination of words. Its definition also clearly explains the purpose of the field. The main goal is any kind of intervention to the lower and Middle face region, especially the teeth, which can also affect the overall appearance of the face.

In What Cases Is Orthodontic Treatment Necessary?

The most common problems in the orthodontic sense are sometimes unwanted changes in the posture of the jaw and indirectly the whole face as a result of having disorientation of the teeth. Orthodontic treatment is performed only after the examination and planning of dentists who have specialized in the field of orthodontics. As a result of the wrong arrangement of the teeth, 6 basic disorders are observed in the teeth and their relations with each other. These:

What are the types of orthodontic disorder?

Overbite: Upper teeth cover lower teeth more than normal. With this disorder, the upper teeth can be positioned in front of the lower ones. It is possible to correct it with orthodontic treatment.
Underbite: Lower teeth are more prominent than upper teeth. It can cause the lower lip to get in front of the upper lip. It is possible to correct it with orthodontic treatment (braces).
Crossbit: inverse between the upper and lower teeth is closing. It is possible to correct it with orthodontic treatment.
Openbite: even when the back teeth touch each other to close, the front teeth do not touch each other and December between the teeth is the case. It is possible to correct it with orthodontic treatment (braces).
Cavities: a condition in which gaps occur between teeth that are lost due to genetic reasons or external factors. It is possible to correct orthodontic treatment (braces) or prosthetic teeth.
This is a condition in which there is not enough room for a healthy tooth to come out in a jaw or both, and the resulting congestion can lead to an arrhythmia. It is possible to correct it with orthodontic treatment.

In addition to all these, complications such as accidents, injuries and physical traumas caused by deformations in the patient’s dental and jaw structure can also be solved by orthodontic treatment methods.

Types Of Orthodontic Treatment

While the prices of braces are one of the first issues that come to the mind of the patients when in question, in fact, the issue that needs to be considered in the first stage should be the current problem and the treatment method to be used. There are 4 types of treatment methods commonly used today. The wires that will be used during the procedure may vary depending on the structural defect that the patient has or at some points on the expectations of the patients.

Metal Braces (Metal Brackets))

It is the oldest, most durable and most used type of braces. After considering the structure of both the jaw and teeth, it is possible to place the tooth on the inner or outer surface by the dentist. Although it does not promise an aesthetically pleasing image, it is the appropriate treatment for every problem. It is also known as the most economical method of orthodontics when the prices of braces are based on 2019. According to the degree of the disorder, recovery is achieved in a period of 6 months to 2 years.

Transparent Braces (Porcelain Brackets)

There is no significant difference between transparent braces and metal braces in terms of treatment outcome. Since transparent braces are produced from a porcelain-based material, they appear much more aesthetically pleasing and natural, such as dental structure. However, since it will not be as durable as metal braces, it should be used more carefully. For this reason, it may not be particularly suitable for children.

Lingual Braces (Lingual Braces)

The biggest downside of braces is lingual braces, which developed to eliminate the disturbing appearance; the inner surface is placed on the outer surface of the tooth visible instead of invisible. It can be used in situations similar to metal or transparent(porcelain) braces. When compared in terms of treatment prices, it can include higher costs than metal braces or transparent(porcelain) braces.

Transparent Plaque – Transparent Dental Plaque

This method, also known as Invisalign, which consists of the combination of the words” Invisible “meaning” invisible “and” aligner “meaning” corrective”, is frequently used in cases of orthodontic disorders, which are partly milder than dental and jaw disorders. Unlike others in transparent dental plaque application, there are no brackets and wires. The patient is subjected to special 3D measurements for the already existing dental structure and the desired correction. Transparent plaque (Invisalign) is prepared for the patient by taking into account the results of the measurements made.

What Is Transparent Plaque?

The patient wears this plaque, which is not connected to his mouth or teeth in any way, for an average of 22 hours a day during the day and night. One of the most basic differences from standard braces is that the patient can remove the transparent plaque for activities such as brushing and eating by himself without needing any tools, and reattach it easily after the necessary procedures are completed. Because the name is transparent, it does not leave the patient in a difficult position in terms of aesthetics. Besides, when plaque is removed from the mouth, force and pain are eliminated.

Transparent plaque treatment can be completed with a single plaque, or it is possible to use more than one plaque, which is replaced at intervals taking into account the duration of treatment and the structural impairment of the teeth.

Transparent Record Prices

Despite the tens of convenience it offers, transparent plaque prices may not be considered too high compared to braces prices. As with other treatments, treatment costs are determined according to the severity of the problem the patient has, the quality of the material used, the duration of treatment or the expectations of the patient.

Orthodontic Treatment: Braces

The most basic tool that is identified with the field of Orthodontics in our country is braces. Dental braces can be used to prevent perplexity in the teeth: besides moving the teeth, correcting the development of the jaw or controlling the development of muscles is one of the effects of treatment. Dental braces are a simple mechanism that applies force to one or more teeth in the desired direction, consisting of braces (the parts adhered to the tooth surface) and wires inserted between those brackets. Braces are sometimes attached to a group of teeth, or often to all teeth, as the dentist, who is a specialist in orthodontics, deems appropriate. Teeth are moved in the desired direction through wires passed between the bonded brackets.

Use Of Braces For Braces

In cases where additional forces need to be applied to the braces in structural terms or to shorten the treatment time, the dentist may also recommend the use of braces. A dental implant is a material used between two or more teeth, usually between the lower and upper tooth rows.

Braces are worn to strengthen and accelerate the principle of braces. It is also used to move the teeth in 3-dimensional motion and sometimes even to correct the position of the jaws.a Although the first few days increase the pain felt a little, it severely shortens the duration of treatment. If recommended by the dentist, it should be used as recommended throughout the day, except for activities such as eating and brushing teeth. The tire is quite easy to use and even simple enough to avoid looking in the mirror.
